On Sunday, February 18, 2024 the Central Susquehanna Riverboat Society hosted a public kickoff for the riverboat project with the announcement of a grant from the 1994 Charles B. Degenstein Foundation and a lease agreement with the Borough of Northumberland for a dock location northwest of Pineknotter Park. The event, held at Front Street Station in Northumberland, featured a panel of representatives from the CSRS board, local and county government, the Hiawatha riverboat, the Coast Guard, and more. Guests enjoyed food, live music, and a raffle fundraiser. CSRS volunteers collected contact information from guests interested in future volunteer work and fundraising efforts and encourages anybody interested to email centralsusquehannariverboat@gmail.com or attend a future fundraising event or board meeting.
